Just In: Wizkid Becomes The First Nigerian To Win A ‘Grammy Award’

Congratulations to Wizkid as he gets hold of his first-ever Grammy Award-winning as Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl” wins Best Music Video.

Off Beyonce’s “Lion’s King” album, the Brown Skin Girl she did with Wizkid and Blue IVY wins the Best Music Video category in the 63rd Grammy Award ceremony.

Beyoncé won Best Music Video at the 2021 Grammy Awards which featured Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Wizkid, SAINt JHN, and Her Daughter, Blue Ivy. Her visual for “Brown Skin Girl” took home the award over videos by Future and Drake (“Life Is Good”), Harry Styles, (“Adore You”), Anderson. Paak (“Lockdown”), and Woodkid (“Goliath”).

It marks the first Grammy Award for Wizkid, SAINt JHN, and Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy. Jenn Nkiru co-directed the video.

Wizkid is now a bonafide winner of the Grammy Award as he’s a direct contributor to the song and thus he will be getting a Gramophone very soon.

Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy is now a #GRAMMYs winner. She becomes the second-youngest winner in history.

Beyoncé is up for eight other awards at tonight’s Grammys: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song for “BLACK PARADE,” plus Record of the Year for “Savage” (with Megan Thee Stallion, and Best Music Film (for Black Is King).
